Born in Chile, Arie Vardi has been based in Scotland since 1991 where he creates emotive.
Paintings in response to the landscapes around him and others he has encountered , particularly around The West Coast of Scotland.
Painting in Acrylics, oils and mixed media, Arie’s works are expressive explorations into nature, accentuated by the use of colour in an experimental way such as in use of gold metal leaf, which enhances the quality of the paint to make it brighter and more translucent. His spontaneous way of painting does more than capture the scene in front of him, as he almost appears to look into the future to give his landscapes a sense of imminent change. His use of light is a key aspect of this, as he plays with depicting light moving across the image, just moving into the scene or just about to fall into shadow.
Arie’s work can be found in private and public collections.
“In my work I let the materials speak for themselves and the image / form to reveal itself”
I work mainly on landscapes / seascapes with a lot of attention to colour, composition and expression based in the observation , appreciation and celebration of everyday life.
