Based in North East Scotland, Elaine’s work predominantly takes inspiration from the local landscape. She is fascinated by the patterns and texture found within abundant lush hedgerows. Current artwork is a playful and colourful interpretation of the beauty found within the micro landscapes we see everyday.
Elaine studied Textile and Fashion Design at Heriot-Watt University (the former Scottish School of Textiles) in Galashiels where she specialised in woven and printed textiles where she graduated with an Honours Degree. She subsequently pursued a career in Interior Design prior to the completion of a PGDE in Art and Design Education. She has worked in Art Education for the past decade and frequently enjoys completing courses at Gray’s School of Art, among many others, to further develop creative skills. Current mixed media work illustrates a nod towards her background in textiles through the use of mark making, colour, texture and layers.
