The rugged textures of cliff and mountain, and the sparkle of light on water or snow feeds my imagination and drives my desire to capture these moments in paint. Translating the beauty of Scotland’s mountains and our North-East coast comes from a lifelong love of walking and climbing.
I love taking my sketchbook and paints into the hills or along the sea cliffs, recording the sights and experiencing the sounds of nature around me. These expedition sketches inform the paintings I create later in the studio.
Several part-time courses at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen led on to my gaining a BA(Hons) in Painting with The Open College of the Arts. My work is held in private collections at home and abroad.
