Originally from Edinburgh, Sheila studied at Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen and then went on to Cardiff to complete an MA in Architectural Ceramics.
Over the past 20 years she has taught Art in Primary and Secondary schools in Aberdeen and the North East and has finally returned to Edinburgh and to creating Ceramics again.
She works mainly in Porcelain making individual, decorative panels and tile forms. Using hand-carved stamps and found objects, she builds up pattern and surface texture. This is then highlighted with colouring oxides and high fired to 1260 C.
