Wenna trained at Birmingham Polytechnic and since 1977 has been a studio potter.
Stoneware clay is used to make her unique pieces, which are hand-built, and aim to emphasise surface texture. Oxides and slips as well as a small amount of glaze add colour, and the work is generally fired to a temperature of 1230C.
All the pieces are ‘one-offs’ inspired by an observation of figures, their gestures and interaction, as well as the surrounding landscape.
